Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Number of OR beds: 15
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Level 1 trauma hospital with a heart program
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- On-call requirements: Night and weekend call shifts
- Floating policy: May float to main OR if no CVOR cases
Job Description
- Role involves first and second scrub surgical technologist duties during heart surgical procedures.
- Must understand and anticipate surgeon needs, maintain sterile field, and assist with tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.
- Procedures performed include cardiac, general, vascular, neuro, spine, trauma, orthopedic, burn, ENT, transplant, and robotic surgeries.
- Experience required with cardiac surgeries including coronary artery bypass, valve replacements, and Da Vinci-assisted thoracoscopy.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including recent OR experience within the last year
- Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or TS-C certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
