Description

Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Arlington, Virginia
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (11:00 AM – 9:30 PM)
Call Requirement: 3-4 call shifts every 6 weeks, 8 hours each


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Operating Room (OR) unit.
  • Schedule details to be provided by manager.
  • EPIC OP TIME (OR) training required before start; completion of 61 EPIC modules mandatory prior to starting assignment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in trauma, neurology, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, and ENT surgery.

Immunization and Health Requirements

  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions allowed with proper documentation and approval.
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required if working in specified units (includes ICU, ED, Labor and Delivery, etc.).
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Tspot, or QGold) within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Required vaccinations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
  • Negative 11-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Fit mask test within last 12 months required (specific mask brands accepted).

Documentation and Compliance

  • Proof of I9 or attestation.
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during work hours).
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
  • Education verification required.
  • Completion of core competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable.
  • Annual completion of Core Part I, II, and III training.
  • Color blindness testing prior to start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation, policies, and acknowledgements prior to start (including confidentiality, dress code, infection control, parking, and safety goals).
  • Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance.
  • Completion of Vendor Access Request (VAR) form and facility background check through HireRight.
  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
  • Completion of skills checklist and employment application/resume.
  • Work history verification covering the past 7 years.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must wear both agency and facility photo badges at all times.
  • EPIC training modules take approximately 5-8 hours to complete and must be done before starting.
  • Flu vaccine exemptions require agency or clinical leadership approval and supporting documentation.
  • Radiation badge and attestation of prior radiation exposure required only if applicable to the role (not typical for OR RN).

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a Level II Trauma center environment with diverse surgical cases.
