Description

Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
  • Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
  • Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
  • Types of visits include Start of Care, Wound Care, and Follow-up Visits.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic, averaging 100-150 miles per week.
  • Use of HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) EMR required; proficiency in OASIS is mandatory for RNs.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with approximately one weekend per month.
  • Minimal on-call requirements.
  • Dress code: Scrubs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Home Health nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Proficiency and experience with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) EMR.
  • Experience with OASIS documentation and processes.

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Background checks covering the last 7 years, including state and federal searches, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record.
  • Fingerprinting required per Pennsylvania Department of Aging standards; must be completed prior to start and cannot start with results pending.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required.
  • Health documentation required:
    • Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (results cannot be pending).
    • Proof of immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination series or documented declination.
  • Education verification for nursing degree required.
  • Two professional references required.
  • Work history verification for at least the last 7 years or two most recent employers.
  • Must review and sign multiple compliance and confidentiality documents prior to start, including but not limited to:
    • Code of Conduct
    • HIPAA and Privacy Policy
    • Compliance Training Certification
    • Home Health Core Policy Acknowledgement
    • Confidentiality Covenant
    • COVID-19 Policy and Attestation
    • Employee Responsibility Agreement
    • TB Questionnaire

Travel & Work Conditions

  • Home visits with periodic office meetings.
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate for travel between patient homes (commute to/from first and last patient not reimbursed).
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
  • Schedule may vary slightly by location; some shifts may follow a 4x10 schedule (Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8.
  • Weekend and on-call requirements vary; discuss during interview.
