Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Available to work every other holiday, if needed
Locals: RNs within 75 miles are not accepted


Job Description

  • Work on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit (assignment given at time of offer)
  • Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
  • Must have worked in acute care within the past 6 months
  • Floating within skillset required
  • Charting experience with EPIC required
  • Scrub color: navy blue and white combinations
  • Call-off policy allows up to three canceled shifts during the contract without penalty
  • Scheduling requests must be submitted upon application

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but must have recent acute care experience (within 6 months)
  • Prior travel experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and updated monthly
  • Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
  • Education verification from primary source required (not hard copies)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year (not required annually)
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
  • References (2 within 3 years) required for certain candidates
  • Employment application and work history verification required
  • Annual skills checklist required
  • State-specific checks including nurse aide registry, criminal background fingerprinting, disciplinary action, sex offender registry, and Medicaid exclusion list as applicable

  • Must submit scheduling and special requests at time of application
  • Floating may be required within the nurse’s skillset
  • Locals (RNs) within 75 miles are not accepted for this position
  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

This position offers an opportunity to work in a Magnet-recognized, advanced thrombectomy-capable stroke center with specialized services in cardiac, oncology, neuroscience, pediatrics, and surgical programs.
