Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Clinton, Maryland

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

  • Work in a high-volume Emergency Department (ED) with at least 45,600 visits per year (approximately 125 visits per day)
  • Triage experience required
  • Float within skillset as needed
  • Work every other weekend and every other holiday

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
  • ED nursing experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Successful completion of the EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam
  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
  • Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
    • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for sterile processing techs)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (minimum 80% score required)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate (not disclosed here)
  • Must be able to work night shifts and meet weekend/holiday requirements
  • Must be able to float within skillset as needed

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with recent ED experience, prior travel nursing assignments, and required certifications who are comfortable working night shifts in a busy hospital setting.
