Cath Lab Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (06:30 - 17:00)
- Shift: Day shift
- Call Requirements:
- 1 to 2 weeknight call shifts (Monday-Friday)
- One 24-hour weekend call shift per month
- Work Environment: Fast-paced, efficient; must be a team player
- Scrubs Provided
- Orientation: Weekly
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- CCI RCIS or ARRT(R)
- Skills Required:
- Interventional Cath procedures
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Scrub technique
- Right & Left Heart catheterization
- Use of Rotablader, Thrombectomy, Stents, PCI, PTCA, Balloon Angioplasty
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Cerner electronic health records
- Acute patient monitoring
- Room circulator duties
- ACIST system
- Watchman Procedures
- Impella insertion
- TAVI/TAVR procedures
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
- Education verification for highest degree required by position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations documentation:
- Tdap within 10 years preferred
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (for Cath Lab and related cardiac units) with specific scoring requirements and remediation process if needed
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
Documentation and Verification
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Skills checklist updated annually
- I-9 and E-Verify attestation required prior to start
- Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function
Additional Notes
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed before hire date; may take multiple hours
- Photo for badge required (clear, well-lit, no glare, solid background)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
- First-time travelers accepted for this unit
