Registered Nurse (IMC/Telemetry) - Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis

Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: Intermediate Care (IMC) / Telemetry, 29 beds
• Patient types: Cardiac medical and surgical patients including post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR), post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), atrial fibrillation, chest pain, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, syncope, bradycardia with temporary pacemaker
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days (until 2300): 1:4
  • Nights (after 2300): 1:5-6
• Support staff:

  • Nurse aides available with ratios varying from 1:10 to 1:15 depending on shift
  • Respiratory therapists (RT) available 24/7 for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm (high flow); RNs responsible for incentive spirometry
  • Central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients 24/7 and provides strip readings

Shift & Scheduling

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Hours per week: 36
• Scheduling: Block scheduling based on unit needs, no self-scheduling
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/standby: None unless covering an extra shift
• Floating: As needed based on unit census

Clinical Responsibilities & Skills

• Experience required with post-procedural cath lab patients and post-cardiac surgical patients
• Management of TR band compression devices and chest pain
• RN responsibilities include titrating drips such as nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, lasix, bumex, and dobutamine (no vasopressors)
• Charge nurse takes a modified assignment

Orientation & Policies

• Orientation: 1 shift HR onboarding, 1 shift unit-specific orientation
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Previous employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Wisconsin
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• BLS (American Heart Association)

• No scrubs provided; no specific scrub color required
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling only
• Friday/Saturday/Sunday shifts available as an option

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry nurses comfortable with post-procedural cardiac care and titrating cardiac-related drips in an intermediate care setting.
