Description
Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours, 18:30 - 7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical Surgical (Med Surg) - Nights
- Option to work either 36 or 48 hours per week (48 hours typical for this posting)
- Patient population includes stroke and surgery patients
- Telemetry central monitoring tech available 24/7; nurse does not need to interpret dysrhythmias
- Float to other units required
- Weekend shifts as needed
- Unit welcomes first-time travel nurses
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only) and must be redone for every new contract
- Education verification with primary source online verification
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start; must be renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive history
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Photo for badge (clear headshot)
- Completion of employment application/resume
- Unit-specific skills checklist annually
- 7-year work history verification
Additional Information
- Scrub color: Any color, no logos
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance
- References are not required for clearance but professional references may be requested internally
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
