Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ER Holding (Adult Admission Unit) position at a Level I Trauma, Academic Teaching Hospital in New Mexico, requiring telemetry interpretation skills and dysrhythmia management experience.
Details
- Adult Admission Unit (AAU) — a fast-paced inpatient holding unit directly adjacent to the Emergency Department at a 554-bed Level I Trauma, Children's, and Academic Teaching Hospital
- Unit serves all admitted specialties except ICU-level patients, with a diverse patient population across medical, surgical, telemetry, and PCU acuity levels
- 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds; patient ratios are 1:4–5
- Float required to adjacent ED for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care (SAC) assignments, and inpatient PCU areas
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Charting system: Cerner
- No on-call required
- Block scheduling will be considered
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NM or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — RQI certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management required
- Ability to manage a variety of medical equipment and demonstrate strong time management skills
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- The AAU functions as an inpatient holding unit, receiving admitted ED patients and initiating inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
- Role requires the ability to manage frequent patient turnover — both admitting from the ED and transferring out to inpatient units
- Relief charge nurse duties may be required as needed
- Black scrubs required; not provided by the facility
- Free parking available
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval; all scheduling requests should be submitted upfront
- Travelers who have worked 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark must take a 6-month break before returning
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
