Registered Nurse – CCU (Critical Care Unit)
Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) during night shifts.
- Typical shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CCU - Coronary Care, with experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
- Fit testing for 3M N95 Model 1860 mask required for all units including OR.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
- Positive titers or boosters for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella.
- Hepatitis B positive titer required; declination requires facility-specific form.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months to 1 year depending on test type; annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October to May); exemptions require facility approval and mask-wearing if declined.
- COVID-19 vaccination required annually or approved exemption.
Background and Documentation
- Standard background checks including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/school, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry search required for all candidates in MA.
- CORI release required.
- Emergency contact form required prior to start.
- Two professional references required, preferably recent work references within 3 years.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Facility Specific Notes
- Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR if applicable.
- Headshot photo with grey background required for badge.
- Flu and COVID-19 exemption forms must be completed and approved if applicable.
- TB questionnaire required if prior positive TB test.
- Hepatitis B declination form required if declining vaccine.
Summary
This is a night shift travel RN position in a Critical Care Unit in Massachusetts requiring a current MA RN license, minimum 2 years of experience (3 preferred), ACLS and BLS certifications, and multiple health and background clearances. The contract is approximately 13 weeks long with 48 hours per week. Candidates must meet strict immunization, testing, and documentation requirements prior to start.
