About
Lexington is a college town with a rich history, located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley with the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Alleghenies to the west. It has an impressive number of historic sites and museums with ties to the Civil War, making it ideal for history enthusiasts. Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson lived and were buried here. The VMI Museum, Miller's House Museum, the Stonewall Jackson House and the University Chapel & Museum provide more details about the local history and America's war history. Horse-drawn carriage tours are ideal for getting a narrated overview of the town. Locally owned boutiques and farm-to-table eateries line the walkable downtown area and on the First Friday of every month, browse the art galleries while enjoying live local music. After dark, multiple venues offer live entertainment, from local musicians to DJs and karaoke.
