Registered Nurse – L&D

Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care in Labor & Delivery following established policies and protocols. Maintain skills appropriate to patient age groups served. Coordinate patient care within the interdisciplinary team and provide patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments including physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs.
• Assess patient conditions, set goals, and implement nursing actions to meet those goals, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of patient condition changes and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions and notifying clinicians.
• Accurately document and report patient observations and ensure timely interventions or referrals. Complete all incident reports before shift end.
• Communicate effectively with patients and significant others, providing education and counseling to optimize understanding.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support department and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience within the last year
