Registered Nurse – L&D

Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care in Labor & Delivery following established policies and protocols. Maintain skills appropriate to patient age and coordinate patient care within the interdisciplinary team. Deliver patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, rehabilitative).
• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; set goals and implement nursing actions accordingly, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of patient condition changes and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions and notifying clinicians.
• Accurately report patient observations and ensure timely interventions or referrals. Complete all incident reports before shift end.
• Communicate effectively with patients and significant others; provide education and counseling to optimize understanding.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support department and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
