Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (either day or night shifts). Shifts may rotate based on hospital needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Current certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Orientation and Onboarding

• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Modules include facility-specific safety and procedural training.
• Baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation are required at orientation.
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment at the facility may be exempt from some orientation testing.

Additional Requirements

• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing-specific code and results submitted before contract extension.
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with facility policies regarding latex allergies and other safety protocols.

Work Environment

• Stepdown unit with potential float to other units caring for similar patient populations.
• Rotating shifts with 12-hour duration.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with solid Stepdown or progressive care experience who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and are comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity hospital setting.
