Description
Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel Assignment)
Location: El Paso, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Telemetry
- Number of Beds: 24
- Staffing: 41 total staff
- Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs)
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2 PCTs
- Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 5 patients
- Equipment: GE remote telemetry
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Typical Patients: Cardiac cath lab post PACU patients (left/right heart caths, pacemakers, Watchman devices, ablations), stroke, COVID-19 patients
- Call Requirements: None
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per pay period
Job Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Competent in interpreting cardiac rhythms

Dress Code
- Scrub colors: Galaxy blue for nurses, hunter green for PCTs
- Not acceptable: hooded sweaters/jackets, full pull-over sweaters, fanny packs, Crocs shoes
Additional Information
- Daily huddles at the nurse’s station at shift start (6:45 AM or 6:45 PM) are mandatory
- Bedside shift reports and updating patient communication boards are expected
- The unit has a mix of tenured staff and new RN graduates
