Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift:
- 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Day shift options: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM
- On Call/Weekend Requirements:
- 6 calls per 6-week schedule
- One weekend or holiday per 6-week schedule
- Float Requirements:
- If no cardiac cases, float to general surgery
- Parking: On-campus parking available (no shuttle needed after evening shifts)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, including experience within the last year
- At least 2 years of experience as an OR circulating nurse
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, federal and state searches (DC, MD, VA), education verification, and offender search
- Background check must be updated every 3 years or after a 6-month gap
- Employment History:
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years required
- Drug Screening:
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana) covering multiple substances
- New drug screen required if break in service exceeds 6 months
- Health Requirements:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/documentation required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept–March)
- Fit Mask:
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year, updated annually, minimum 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms section (required for CVOR and related critical care units)
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start date
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
Additional Notes
- Valid driver’s license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
- Candidates must complete all required attestations including I9/E-Verify prior to start
- Photo for badge must meet specified criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with prior travel contract experience seeking a 13-week assignment in Washington, DC with a structured on-call and weekend schedule.
