Description

Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6
  • Work Schedule: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
  • Float Requirement: Med Surg nurses will float to stepdown/PCU units as needed
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
  • Travel radius restriction: Must live within 50 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown units

Candidate Requirements

  • First-time travel nurses are accepted
  • Must provide:
    • Government-issued photo ID carried during shifts
    • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
    • Criminal background check (within 6 months if signed before 12/14/25; within 30 days if signed on/after 12/14/25)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
    • NURSYS verification (for RNs)
    • Primary source verification of state license
    • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
    • Completed employment application/resume
    • Skills checklist updated annually (for applicable units)
    • Performance evaluation if previously completed assignments through any agency
    • Internal evaluation if worked with the facility for over 2 years

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations or titers with facility-specific declination forms as applicable for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or vaccine series)
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
    • COVID vaccination or declination
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 1 year) or annual TB questionnaire on file
  • Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months (before 12/14/25) or within 30 days (on/after 12/14/25); instant tests not accepted

Orientation and Facility Specifics

  • Completion of approximately 81 Relias training modules prior to first shift and orientation (up to 8 hours allowed for orientation)
  • Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, shadows, or altered images)
  • Must sign facility-specific confidentiality and job description documents
  • Employee health questionnaire and serial TB screening self-evaluation required for clearance (no annual update needed)
  • Vaccine declination forms required if vaccines are declined

Additional Notes

  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams required as applicable
  • Shift includes floating to stepdown/PCU units, so flexibility and experience in these areas are important
  • Facility maintains strict compliance with background and licensure verification policies
