Description
Job Opportunity: Urgent Care Registered Nurse
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shifts, typically 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM)
- Hours: Alternating weeks of 32 and 36 hours
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
- Minimum 5 years of Urgent Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic charting system
- Telemetry skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Experience with triage and Level 1 trauma care
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccine required by November 1st; medical or religious exemptions must be approved at least 2 weeks prior to start
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year of start (T-spot tests not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific panel requirements apply)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must complete specific medical history forms during occupational health appointment
- N95 fit test (quantitative test only for 3M 1870 mask accepted)
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test prior to start (can be completed onsite)
- Completion of child abuse mandatory reporter training as required by New York State
Testing and Competency Exams
- Must complete and pass an advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of contract signing with:
- Minimum 90% passing score on online exam
- 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms identification
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Additional competency exams may be required based on profession
Background and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Standard background checks including 7-year search, nationwide, sex offender registry, and EPLS/GSA/SAM checks
- Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, FCRA authorization, lift assessment, and others must be completed prior to start
- Two professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
Additional Notes
- Flu season runs from December 5th until declared over by NY State Department of Health or vaccine expiration
- Candidates must not reside in specified counties within a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Orientation includes virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules to be completed before start date
This position is ideal for experienced Urgent Care or ED Registered Nurses with strong telemetry and rhythm interpretation skills, who are comfortable working varied day shifts and meeting rigorous certification and testing requirements.
