Registered Nurse (RN) Flex Pool - Days

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Float between various medical and surgical units including Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular Units (rarely).
• Work 12-hour day shifts from 06:45 to 19:15.
• Scheduled for 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation.
• No guaranteed hours.
• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment on Friday.

Units and Patient Ratios

• Medical Unit: 77 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
• Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute): 18 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:4
• Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Hawaii
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Stepdown unit experience
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification

Skills and Equipment

• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes.
• Ability to float between multiple units as needed.

Orientation and Training

• Orientation provided for each unit floated to.

Dress Code

• Professional nursing attire; clean scrubs required.
