Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Patient Care Environment
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Unit size: 48 beds/rooms
- Float required within competencies
- Patient diagnoses include: Sepsis, CIWA, Confusion, AMS, COPD, Post-op care, AKI, Trauma, Respiratory failure, Bowel obstruction, Pyelonephritis, Cardiac conditions, Diabetes, GI conditions, Isolation, Suicidal ideation with medical indications
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency

- Apply nursing process knowledge across all age groups: infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
- Thorough documentation following regulatory and hospital standards
- Maintain clinical competencies and support professional development
- Work effectively in a busy, changing environment with patient safety focus
Skills and Abilities
- Good judgment, patience, and professionalism
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic medical records
- Advanced math skills and problem-solving abilities
- Teamwork and decision-making skills
Required Health and Compliance Documents
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions screening
- Competency exams and color blindness test as applicable
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license or state ID
- Complete employment application/resume

- 7-year work history verification
- Ability to float to other units as needed within competencies
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic medical surgical unit with a diverse patient population requiring strong clinical skills and adaptability. Prior travel experience is preferred but not required.
