Description

Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

Unit: Cardiovascular (CV) PreOp
Number of Beds: 4
Patient Ratio: 1:1
Staffing: RNs supported by CNC, secretary, manager; shared with CVOR
Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
Documentation System: Cerner
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
On-Call: Required to stay late 1-2 times per week
Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of experience in PreOp / PACU (Post Anesthesia Care), with at least 1 year of recent experience
Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures

Perform large-bore IV starts and chin-to-toe hair removal
Medication administration and skin assessments
Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
Transport patients to the OR and assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
