ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Westwood, New Jersey
Position Details
- Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Hours: 36 hours per week
- Location: Westwood, New Jersey
- Travel Radius: Must be willing to travel at least 50 miles; local candidates not accepted
- Unit Accepts: First-time travel nurses
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Complete employment application/resume
- 7-year work history verification (NJ requires at least 1 year verified prior to start with no gaps over 30 days)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year background check updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Adult Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if titers negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Annual unit-specific skills checklist
- Competency exams as applicable (minimum passing score 80%)
- Color blindness test (online version accepted)
- Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting is required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
- References are not required for clearance but may be requested internally
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 1.5 years of experience seeking a 13-week travel assignment on day shifts in New Jersey, who hold current licensure and certifications, and can meet comprehensive health and background screening requirements.
