Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

• Work in a 45-bed unit with 2 ORs, caring for high-risk obstetrics patients including antepartum, c-sections, and vaginal deliveries.
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2.
• Common drips include magnesium, insulin, and pitocin.
• Approximately 150 deliveries per month at this facility.
• Must float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Use EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Hospital provides scrubs.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Orientation dates prioritized on 6/8 and 6/22.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license valid at time of submission.
• Minimum of 1 year recent/current Labor & Delivery experience.
• Experience with high-risk OB, antepartum, c-section, and vaginal deliveries required.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• Intermediate or Advanced EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) or AWHONN certification required.
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• Current certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN certification
• Skills checklist specific to Labor & Delivery discipline required.
• Professional reference or performance evaluation from within the last 24 months preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Additional Information

• New hire orientation (NBO) is 16 hours.
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply.
• Call back and on-call pay available.
• Employee separation policy restricts travel assignments within the market for certain past employees.
