Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday overnights
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- Total hours per week: 36
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted (specific counties excluded)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Urgent Care experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications required:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccine required by November 1st; medical or religious exemptions must be approved at least 2 weeks prior to start
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year of start (T-spot tests not accepted)
- Negative chest x-ray if past positive PPD, dated within 1 year of employment
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific lab and test codes required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must complete and bring TSH Medical History form to physical
- N95 fit test required (quantitative test only for 3M 1870 mask accepted)
- Color blindness test (Ishihara) required prior to start; can be completed onsite
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required for all RNs per New York State regulations
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Passport-style photo for badge (plain background, head and shoulders visible)
- Background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG (updated annually)
- Facility-specific documents and assessments such as lift assessment (typically 25 lbs), FCRA authorization release, and ECG study guide must be completed
- Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules via HealthStream prior to start (deadline: Wednesday before start date)
- Two professional references required (within 2 years of start) for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
