Job Opportunity: Charge Nurse (Acute Inpatient and Emergency Room Nightshift RN)
Location: Springfield, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nightshift, 6 PM – 6 AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week) with potential for overtime and holiday coverage
Position Summary
As a Charge Nurse, you will oversee patient care in hospital nursing, including acute inpatient and emergency room settings. You will assess patients’ physical and psychosocial conditions, develop and implement nursing care plans, evaluate outcomes, and coordinate care with the healthcare team. This role includes supervisory responsibilities over licensed practical nurses, certified nurse aides, and ward clerks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans involving patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and revise care plans as needed.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation using manual and automated systems.
- Act as liaison coordinating patient care activities among nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals.
- Communicate patient care plans and significant changes to interdisciplinary team members and families.
- Participate in performance improvement, risk management, and continuous education activities.
- Provide patient, family, staff, and student education based on assessed learning needs.
- Manage emergency room patient care, including rapid assessment within 5 minutes of admission, documentation, and therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain professional relationships and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment and infection control measures.
- Attend meetings and in-service training as required.
- Demonstrate cost-effective use of supplies and recommend improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Proficiency in typing and use of computer software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet.
- Ability to learn new software systems quickly.
