Description
Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift Options:
- 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Call Requirements:
- Call rotation with staff: 4 weeknights in a 6-week schedule plus 1 weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday or take call during the 13-week contract
- Charting System: EPIC experience required
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (radius restrictions apply)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Care for patients across all age groups: neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
- Work settings include inpatient units, outpatient endoscopy centers, portable/bedside travel cases, and pre/post procedure areas
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year, updated annually
- Other Required Documents:
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility (required within 48 hours of signing)
- Photo for badge (professional, plain background)
- Completed new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start
- Education verification of highest earned degree
- Two clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Orientation: Review of contract staff orientation manual prior to start (not required for inpatient RNs)
Additional Notes
- The facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- All requests for time off, block, or special scheduling must be submitted with application
- This is a travel/contract position with no acceptance of local candidates due to radius restrictions
This role is ideal for an experienced Endoscopy RN with strong procedural and respiratory care skills, comfortable working in a fast-paced acute care environment with a diverse patient population.
