Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Call required: 8-10 days per month (may vary)
  • Weekend coverage: Every third weekend (may vary)

Job Description

  • Care for patients undergoing heart catheterization, including right heart catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, and low-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
  • Cross-training opportunity in Interventional Radiology (IR) for sedation administration during vascular angiograms and IR biopsies
  • Use of specialized equipment such as Teleflex IABP, Impella, and Boston Scientific IVUS
  • Medication system: Omnicell
  • Must have at least 1 year of EPIC electronic health record experience

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty
  • Background check covering 7 years within 12 months of start date, including alias and state/county searches for all places lived/worked in last 7 years
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Various federal and state-level sanction and exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC) within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
  • Primary source verification of Tennessee RN license within 30 days of start
  • Education verification of highest level completed
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
  • Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Immunization and health requirements including:
    • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (if working in high-risk areas)
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
  • Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of approximately 12 hours of mandatory online modules within 72 hours of assignment
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite, followed by clinical precepted orientation
  • Pass/fail medication and arrhythmia competency testing required prior to start (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score)
  • Annual core competencies and training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA blood-borne pathogens, and patient safety goals

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, light background, no alterations)
  • Floating policy not required for this location
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation deadlines
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required; first-time travelers will be considered based on experience
