Description

Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel Assignment)

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Overview

  • Unit: ICU/CCU (16 beds)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1, occasionally 3:1
  • Staffing: Includes unit secretaries and variable tech availability depending on census
  • Equipment: Impella, GE monitors, Temporary Pacemakers, EKOS, IABP, Artic Sun, Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Floating Policy: Float in rotation with core staffing
  • Scheduling: Flexible scheduling options with teamwork environment; mix of day and night shift experience among staff

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIH Certification

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in ICU or critical care specialty

Skills & Procedures

  • Critical thinking and self-motivation required
  • Advanced skills needed for unit-specific procedures including:
    • Central line insertions
    • Dialysis catheter insertions

Work Environment & Culture

  • Dress Code: Scrubs of any color allowed; no denim, capris, or camouflage patterns
  • Team-oriented unit with a mix of experienced and newer staff
  • Recognized for compassionate care (e.g., involvement in hospice blanket making, Daisy Award recognition)
  • Emphasis on flexibility and supportive teamwork

  • Candidates may request unit-specific policies and guidelines
  • Opportunity to work with advanced critical care technology and equipment

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kentucky
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
