Description

Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel Assignment)

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

Unit: ICU/CCU (16 beds)
Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1, occasionally 3:1
Staffing: Includes unit secretaries and variable tech availability depending on census
Equipment: Impella, GE monitors, Temporary Pacemakers, EKOS, IABP, Artic Sun, Hemodynamic monitoring
Documentation System: Meditech
Floating Policy: Float in rotation with core staffing
Scheduling: Flexible scheduling options with teamwork environment; mix of day and night shift experience among staff

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse (RN) License required
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIH Certification

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in ICU or critical care specialty

Skills & Procedures

Critical thinking and self-motivation required
Advanced skills needed for unit-specific procedures including:
- Central line insertions
- Dialysis catheter insertions

Work Environment & Culture

Dress Code: Scrubs of any color allowed; no denim, capris, or camouflage patterns
Team-oriented unit with a mix of experienced and newer staff
Recognized for compassionate care (e.g., involvement in hospice blanket making, Daisy Award recognition)
Emphasis on flexibility and supportive teamwork

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
ICU experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
