Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit.
  • Must have experience with high-risk pregnancies.
  • Responsibilities include circulating, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), precepting, charge nurse duties, and triage (preferred).
  • Float within related skillsets such as Mom/Baby and postpartum care is required.
  • Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call.
  • Work every other weekend and every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with high-risk patients
  • Experience in charge nurse roles

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
  • Complete I9/E-Verify attestation prior to start.
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state and federal searches.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment.
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position.
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Immunizations and health documentation:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB).
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred.
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination).
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar).
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (not required for sterile processing techs).
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (with specific scoring requirements).
  • Annual safety manual acknowledgement.

References and Work History

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years, including one from the most recent assignment.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
  • Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, with attestation acceptable.

Additional Notes

  • Call and float responsibilities require flexibility and proximity to the facility.
  • Locals within 60 miles may be considered at different rates (not included here).
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and holiday.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience seeking a 13-week night shift contract in Maryland.
