Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Shift: Wednesday to Friday Nights (3 shifts/week, 12 hours each, 18:30–7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a community hospital with 16 operating rooms.
- Surgical specialties include General Surgery, Bariatrics, Gynecology, Urology, ENT, Orthopedics, Plastics, Spine, Robotics, Thoracic, Peripheral Vascular, and Pediatric surgery.
- The traveler will orient on day shift for 1-2 weeks before transitioning to night shifts.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
- Required skill: Circulating nurse in the OR.
- Charting system: Cerner.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, and education verification.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 12 months of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
- Fit mask test within 12 months (N95 or approved respirators).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended but not required.
- Tuberculosis screening: Negative TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest X-ray and documentation required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30–3/31). Declinations not accepted.
- Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score.
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually.
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment within 2 years, with contacts holding charge/manager/supervisor titles or above.
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps of 30+ days.

- No local candidates accepted for this travel assignment.
- Orientation and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start.
- Facility requires completion of self-study orientation and tests before starting.
- On-site fit testing available only as a last resort and with prior approval.
- PAPR use requires facility approval before start.

This is a night-shift travel Registered Nurse position in the Operating Room requiring at least 2 years of OR experience, BCLS certification, and proficiency with Cerner charting.
