Labor & Delivery RN

Location: Devils Lake, North Dakota
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour day/night rotating
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and protocols. Maintain knowledge and skills appropriate to patient age groups served. Coordinate patient care within the interdisciplinary team and provide patient education to ensure safe discharge.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily patient rounds to ensure quality care and address unmet needs.
• Develop individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, rehabilitative).
• Assess patient condition and nursing needs; set goals and implement nursing actions accordingly, including discharge planning.
• Promptly assess and manage patient pain according to standard procedures.
• Identify early warning signs of patient deterioration and respond appropriately, including emergency interventions and notifying clinicians.
• Accurately document and report patient observations and reactions to the care team; ensure timely interventions or referrals.
• Complete and submit all incident reports before shift end.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families; provide education and counseling to optimize understanding.
• Delegate nursing interventions safely within scope of practice and competence.
• Perform other duties as needed to meet department and organizational needs.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Specialty: Nursing (Labor & Delivery)
• Minimum years of experience: At least 1 year in Labor and Delivery within the last year
• Prior travel experience: Not required.
