Description

Registered Nurse (Progressive Care Unit) - Travel Assignment

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

Unit: Inpatient overflow unit with mixed level of care (medical-surgical and/or step-down patients)
Beds: 20
Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6 (stretch, depending on level of care)
Patient Type: Includes short stay patients (<24 hour length of stay)
Equipment: Telemetry monitoring with all patients hardwired to bedside monitors
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of Telemetry Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Telemetry experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Recent Progressive Care experience

Work Environment & Expectations

Floating: Must be willing to float to other units as needed
Schedule: Every other weekend required; no on-call duties
Dress Code: Navy and/or white top, navy bottom, or all white scrubs
Personality Fit: Positive attitude, patient experience focused, kind, compassionate, team player

Typical Staffing

Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs

Additional Notes

Quick patient turnover expected
Unit located on 2nd floor, D corridor of main campus building
