Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN)

Position Details

Job Description

• Work in an Interventional Radiology (IR) setting with 2 IR suites.
• Patient types include inpatient, outpatient, and ER cases (no Neuro IR).
• Assist with ultrasound-guided cases and CT as needed.
• Typical case team: 1 RN, 1 Tech, Radiologist/PA/APC; higher-level cases may include an additional RN or RT.
• Procedures include paras/thoras, biopsies (bone, thyroid, liver, renal), abscess drainage, angiograms (upper/lower extremities), fistulograms, g-tube insertions/exchanges, kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty, coil embolizations, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, trialysis catheters/central lines, ports, and IVC filter placements.
• Preferred experience with Y90s and TIPS procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of Interventional Radiology experience as an RN.
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Comfortable administering conscious/moderate sedation (excluding propofol), IV medications, and circulating cases.

Orientation & Training

• 3 days of orientation with the possibility of additional days if needed.
• Buddy call support during orientation.

Scheduling & On-Call

• Weekend on-call rotation: 1 weekend per 4-week schedule (Friday evening to Monday morning).
• One weekday on-call shift per week (4:30 PM to 7:00 AM).
• On call team includes 1 RN and 1 Tech working a late shift (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) on call days.
• Radiologist/PA/APC provides final approval for calling in the team.
• Holiday on-call every other holiday.
• Shift length: 8 hours.
• Schedule managed by Lead Tech.

Work Environment & Support

• Fully staffed model includes 4 RNs, 4 Techs, Radiologist, RT, Hospitalist, Rapid Response/Code Team, Manager/Supervisor, and Lead Tech.
• Floating occasionally to CT to assist with ongoing cases.
• Scrub color provided; shoe covers required if wearing personal shoes.
• Free parking available.

Technology & Equipment

• EMR system: EPIC (experience preferred).
• IV pump: Alaris.
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis.
• Imaging equipment: Siemens Artis Zee C-arm (experience preferred for Techs).
