Job Description
- Float pool position requiring willingness to float to 8 different Med/Surg Telemetry units across the hospital.
- Shifts include Days, Evenings, and Nights with rotation every other week (EOW).
- Total scheduled hours: 36 hours per week.
- Responsible for cardiac monitoring, including measuring intervals and interpreting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
- Perform cardiac drips and read telemetry strips.
- Patient care includes ED border patients, acute mental health medication nursing, and non-vented ICU patients who are transfer ready.
- Clinician-to-patient ratio: up to 5:1 on Days and Evenings, up to 6:1 on Nights.
- Charting system used: EPIC.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years working as a Traveler.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Active Massachusetts RN license (no conditional licenses accepted).
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (only AHA accepted).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred (AHA preferred).
Required Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
- Experience with TR Band.
- Ability to perform cardiac drips.
Patient Population
- Med/Surg Telemetry patients across multiple units including ED, mental health, and ICU transfer-ready patients.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to float between multiple units (up to 8 different units).
- Rotation includes Days, Evenings, and Nights with 1 to 3 night shifts per contract.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days prior to start, updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed.
- Documentation of TB screening within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
- Documentation of MMR immunity or vaccination.
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months.
- Criminal background check, Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes.
- Skills checklists and medication/dysrhythmia exams with minimum passing scores required within 1 year.
- Submission of 7 years of work history and 2 professional references (including at least 1 supervisor).
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for extensions.
Patient Census and Unit Size
- Units range from 8 to 41 beds.
- Total hospital bed count: 371.
