Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Transplant ICU setting
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- No on-call duties; weekend coverage every other weekend (EOW)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in District of Columbia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or ARC
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure interpretation and management
- IV insulin protocols
- GI surgery care
- Chronic and acute renal failure
- IV therapy
- CVA/acute stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- Hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
- ICP monitoring
- Post-neurosurgery management
- Spinal cord injury care
- Traumatic brain injury care
- Respiratory and thoracic care
- Infection prevention
- Isolation precautions and use of PPE
- Phlebotomy
- Surgical wounds with drains and Wound Vac care
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to hire
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with minimum passing scores required within 3 years of start
- Annual completion of facility-specific orientation modules and safety manual acknowledgment

- Valid driver’s license required if driving on behalf of the employer is an essential job function
- Must comply with all facility-specific policies and complete required training modules before start date
