Description
Registered Nurse - Oncology (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Shift: Day, 4 shifts per week, 9.5 hours each (8:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Details
- Unit Type: Oncology
- Average Daily Census: 32 patients
- Beds: 12
- Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Patient Diagnoses: Hematology and oncology, asthma/allergy, GI, rheumatology, MS, and others
- Special Procedures: Port accessing, IV placement
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Documentation Systems: Cerner and IntelliDose
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Oncology experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC)
- ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certificate
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Orientation & Dress Code
- Orientation: 3-4 shifts with a preceptor
- Scrubs: Not provided; any color acceptable
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with plain white/beige background, uploaded 2 weeks prior to start
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year prior to start (no annual update required if contract extended)
- Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel, marijuana testing not required)
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof of one Tdap after age 18, then Td every 10 years; medical declinations require documentation
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters if negative/equivocal; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Immune titer or 2 vaccines with 2 boosters if negative/equivocal; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Immune titer with numerical value >10 or signed declination; 3 boosters required if negative/equivocal; declinations accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (September - April); medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case; declinations require provider documentation
- COVID Vaccine: Required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation
- TB Testing:
- 2-step PPD required (1 within 1 year, 1 within 90 days) or Qgold/Tspot within 90 days
- For past positives: Negative chest x-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Annual TB testing required only for ICU and ER candidates (not applicable here)
- N95 Fit Test: Required within last 6 months for specified masks; onsite fit testing allowed case-by-case; PAPR proof required if applicable
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 professional references within last 3 years for travel/per diem acute care positions
- Facility-specific documents: Compliance checklist, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms, COVID exemption forms if applicable
This position is suitable for RNs with oncology experience seeking a travel contract in Massachusetts, working day shifts with a focus on adult and geriatric oncology patients. First-time travelers are welcome.
