Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Centralized Registry Float
Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule Details:
- 12-hour shifts
- 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks
- Patient ratios typically 1:5-6
- Floating to other medical/surgical units only
Job Description
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care on Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary units.
- Care for a diverse patient population with chronic illnesses (COPD, Diabetes, CHF, ESRD), GI issues (pancreatitis, bleeding, gastroparesis, IBD), infections (pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, C. diff), neurological conditions (stroke, dementia, TBI), and mental health disorders (depression, anxiety, substance abuse).
- Assist patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries (lap chole, I&D, biopsies, amputation).
- Perform assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, and utilize the electronic health record (Epic).
- Manage IV therapy, including heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, feeding pumps and tubes, chest tubes, and use of telemetry monitoring.

- Epic electronic health record system
- Pyxis medication dispensing machines
- Accucheck blood glucose monitors
- Hospira IV pumps
- Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs) for VTE prevention
- Heating/cooling pads
- Telemetry monitoring
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of Med Surg experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Orientation and Training
- Jump Start orientation program including:
- 1 day general hospital orientation
- Approximately 5 days nursing orientation
- Epic training classes included
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation (not applicable if returning within 12 months)
Additional Information
- Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) may be subject to a rate adjustment
- Client may cancel assignment up to 24 hours in advance per 13-week contract
- Floating assignments limited to medical units only
