Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Float Pool (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Overview
- Float Pool RN working primarily on Medical/Surgical Telemetry and Telemetry units, including medical, surgical, and observation patients.
- Nurse may float between two different units during a 12-hour shift based on unit needs.
- Every other weekend coverage required.
- Documentation system used: Cerner.
- Float pool team includes Nurses, Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), and Orderlies/Aides (OAs).
- Monitoring system (Avasure) used for video surveillance of up to 12 patients; staff assigned to monitor must be relieved for breaks/meals.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome with 2-3 years of nursing experience and experience with either Epic or Cerner electronic health records.
- Cardiac experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Cardiac experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Massachusetts Statewide CORI (iCORI) background check required and must be completed prior to start.
- Standard background check within 1 year of start, including 7-year county searches, SS trace, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in Massachusetts.
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel, instant acceptable). Marijuana testing not required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- N95 fit test within last 6 months for approved mask models; onsite fit testing may be allowed case-by-case. Proof of failed fit required for PAPR use.
- Immunizations and/or immunity documentation required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Td booster every 10 years; medical declinations require documentation)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – immune titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B – immune titer with numerical value >10 or signed declination accepted; boosters required if negative/equivocal.
- Varicella – immune titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed; no declinations accepted.
- TB testing: 2-step PPD or Qgold/Tspot within 90 days of start; negative chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required for past positives. Annual TB testing required only for ICU and ER units.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required September through April; medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case but generally not accepted without documentation.
- COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation.
Additional Requirements
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, plain background) required 2 weeks prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists, latex allergy questionnaire, personal information forms, and COVID exemption forms if applicable.
- Two professional references required within 3 years for travel acute care positions.
Work Conditions & Notes
- Client may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment; canceled shifts must be full shift length.
- Guaranteed minimum hours apply even if shifts are canceled or facility closes.
- Shift pattern typically 3 nights per week, 12 hours each, totaling 36 hours weekly.
- Float pool assignments are based on unit needs determined during bed meetings.
This position is suitable for RNs with cardiac experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a float pool capacity across medical-surgical telemetry units, and who meet the outlined licensure, certification, and health requirements. First-time travel nurses with appropriate experience and EHR familiarity are encouraged to apply.
