Description
Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
Location: San Angelo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (rotating shifts between 9:00 AM–9:00 PM and 12:00 PM–12:00 AM)
- Some weekends required
- Floating between two Emergency Departments located less than 10 minutes apart
- Patient ratio: 3-4 patients per nurse
- General Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications (must have before start unless otherwise noted):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – can be obtained after start date
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- Background Check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, including statewide, federal, national, education verification, and international search if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification or diploma as placeholder if pending
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start
- Pass/Fail testing during orientation (includes medication administration, restraint, glucometer)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit test for mask within 6 months prior to start, annual updates required
- Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with annual TB questionnaire if positive)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or series with signed declination if applicable
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or proof of disease (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination during flu season (Oct 31–Mar 31)
- COVID initial series required (boosters not required)
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start (instant acceptable), covering multiple substances
- Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required prior to start, including:
- Photo for badge
- Health record form
- Code of conduct and compliance form
- Confidentiality statement
- Information system security agreement
- Non-employee orientation update
- Traveler orientation review
- Vaccine exemption form if applicable
- Hepatitis B declination if no positive titer on file
Additional Requirements
- Legal name must match exactly on all license documentation, IDs, social security card, and certifications; proof of name change alone is not sufficient
- Two professional references required within 3 years of start
- Resume or employment application required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
