Job Opportunity: Surgical Center Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Details

Job Description

• Work primarily at two hospital sites with potential to float to a third.
• Responsibilities include circulating in the operating room, making critical independent decisions, collaborating with team members, multitasking, and recognizing changes requiring unanticipated interventions.
• Patient types include inpatient, outpatient, and ER cases.
• Surgical specialties covered: General, Gynecology, ENT, Urology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Vascular.
• Pediatric cases (5-10% of caseload) primarily with ENT; experience with pediatrics preferred.
• On-call duties every 6th weekend (Friday afternoon to Monday morning) and one night per week with a 30-minute response time.
• Scrub color and procedural attire provided.

Facility Information

• 123-bed facility
• Level III Trauma Center
• Primary Stroke Center
• No NICU level
• 3 Operating Rooms
• Uses EPIC charting system, Pyxis medication system, and Alaris infusion pumps.

Orientation & Scheduling

• Orientation lasts 1-3 shifts based on comfort level.
• Floating required between two main sites with weekly schedules provided.
• Time off requests approved through manager.
• Holiday time off includes one summer and one winter holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
• RN license with current ACLS and BLS certifications.
• COVID-19 vaccination required.

Support Team

• Charge Nurse (does not take patient assignments)
• Surgeon present during the day and on call after cases
• Anesthesia present during cases and on call afterward
• Surgery scheduler available during the day
• OR aide serves as secretary

This position is suitable for RNs with surgical experience seeking a contract role with varied surgical specialties and some pediatric exposure. Prior travel experience is not required.
