Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Float Pool (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Overview
- Float Pool RN working primarily on Medical/Surgical Telemetry units.
- 3 consecutive 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
- Every other weekend coverage required.
- Float pool nurses may be assigned to 2 different units during a shift based on need.
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and observation patients on M/S Tele and Tele units.
- Documentation system used: Cerner.
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply with 2-3 years of experience and Epic or Cerner experience.
- Must have cardiac nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
- Cardiac and cardiology nursing experience required.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS certifications must be current and from AHA (American Heart Association).
- Age-specific competency exam required.
Work Hours & Scheduling
- 3x12 hour night shifts per week (36 hours/week).
- Facility guarantees 40 hours per week minimum.
- Travel client may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
- On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed hours.
Patient Care Environment & Responsibilities
- Float pool nurses work alongside PCAs and other support staff.
- May be required to monitor patients via video surveillance system (Avasure) and relieve staff in that role for breaks/meals.
Required Background & Compliance Checks
- Massachusetts Statewide CORI (iCORI) background check required.
- Standard background check within 1 year prior to start, including 7-year county searches, SS trace, nationwide, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in MA.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific approved mask models required).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent).
- Annual TB questionnaire for past positives or pending TB tests.
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (numerical titer required or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: proof of one Tdap after age 18, then Td every 10 years. Medical declinations require documentation.
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (September–April) or approved medical/religious exemption.
- COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation.
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel). Marijuana testing not required.
Additional Facility Requirements
- Badge photo (passport style, head and shoulders, plain background) required 2 weeks prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists and questionnaires (e.g., latex allergy, COVID exemption forms if applicable).
- Two professional references required within 3 years for travel nurses.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers with adequate experience and EHR skills are considered.
- Candidate must be flexible to float between units and cover various patient care needs.
- Facility uses Cerner for documentation; Epic experience is also acceptable.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic float pool environment with a focus on cardiac and telemetry nursing during night shifts in Massachusetts.
