Description
Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Night shift position: 12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, totaling 36 hours per week
- Patient ratio: 5:1, with the possibility to run 1 over grid to 6:1
- Floating required within the service line as needed
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekends (6 weekend shifts) every 6 weeks
- Self-scheduling with leadership balancing needs and RTO (Return to Office) restrictions
- No call requirement
- Unit cares for pulmonary and general medical patients, including those with longer lengths of stay, tracheostomies, COPD, and asthma
- Special procedures include care for trachs, chest tubes, and oxygen therapy up to BiPAP/CPAP (no ventilators)
- Unit systems: EPIC, PYXIS, SBAR
- Scrubs: Navy blue and white (any combination)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- 13-week contract length
- Night shift only (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Floating within the service line as needed
- Weekend shifts required as specified
- No call responsibilities
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs or RTO may lead to cancellation
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Pulmonary and general medical patients
- Patients with tracheostomies, chest tubes, COPD, asthma
- Oxygen therapy including BiPAP/CPAP, no ventilator management
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background for badge creation) required immediately after signing contract
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and education modules (including medication safety and confidentiality agreements)
- Proof of logging into facility’s learning management system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of account setup
- Annual compliance and mandatory education training required
- Facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments must be signed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required competency exams and certifications before or shortly after starting
- Facility uses EPIC electronic health record system
- No scrubs provided onsite; dress code is navy blue and white
- Candidates must be able to float within the service line as needed
- Strict adherence to attendance and scheduling policies is required to avoid cancellation
This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a pulmonary/medical telemetry unit and are open to travel assignments without prior travel experience.
