Description

Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Contract Length: 18 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: High Risk Labor and Delivery RN
  • Shift Options:
    • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3 shifts of 12 hours)
    • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts of 12 hours)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: May float within scope to postpartum unit
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
  • First-time travelers: Accepted

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Minnesota (pending license accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Licensure

  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license for Minnesota (pending license accepted)

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute care teaching hospital with Level 3 trauma designation
  • Total staffed beds: 317
  • Charting system: Epic (Excellian)
  • Scrub color provided by unit
  • Parking: First day free with validation; subsequent parking fees apply depending on shift and location

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year required (7-year standard MN statewide search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year
  • MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance mandatory before start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless approved “more time needed” letter is provided
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) with no declinations accepted unless approved exemption (exemptions restrict patient care areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required, no exemptions for patient-facing roles
    • Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination series, no exemptions accepted
    • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year, not required for client clearance but must be current
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start for fit testing

Onboarding & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of receiving login; modules take 3-9 hours depending on specialty
  • Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Badge request process required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • No on-call required
  • Guaranteed hours subject to client cancellation policy (client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty)
  • References not required for client clearance and will not delay start date
  • Candidates must comply with all state and facility-specific credentialing and compliance requirements

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a travel contract in a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital environment with specialized high-risk OB care.
