Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Battle Creek, Michigan
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Day shift, 3 shifts per week
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)
- Total 36 hours per week
- Weekend: Work every other weekend
- No call or float required
Patient Ratios
- Nights: 1 Respiratory Therapist to 3-4 patients
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Michigan
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
Certifications & Competencies
- Must complete Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 1 year prior to assignment start with a passing score of at least 80%
- Competency Exam in specialty within 1 year prior to start with passing score of at least 80%
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Flu vaccine required; medical or religious exemptions allowed but must be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
- Proof of 1 prior Tdap vaccine required
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/Tspot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: titer, series, or facility declination required
- Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start (instant/rapid acceptable if 10-panel)
Background Checks & Documentation
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace
- National Criminal Search
- National Sex Offender Search
- Statewide searches
- Education verification
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search for Home Health (not applicable here)
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required (wet signature on form, time sensitive)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start if applicable (not typically for RRT unless specified)
- Education verification: copy of highest degree or diploma required
Required Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
- One professional reference from a supervisor or manager (charge nurse references acceptable)
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
- Code of Conduct reviewed and signed
- Appearance Standards Policy reviewed
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required if working onsite; appointment must be scheduled and documented
- Vaccine exemption forms if applicable (medical or religious)
