Emergency Room Registered Nurse - Contract

Job Summary

Coordinate and implement individualized patient care plans using the nursing process within scope, standards, and organizational policies. Provide quality outcomes through collaboration with the healthcare team, patient education, and effective delegation. Work independently in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking and prioritization.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on assessments.
• Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare team for patient care coordination including transfers, discharge, referrals, and psychosocial support.
• Identify communication barriers related to psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
• Provide patient and family education tailored to age, culture, and condition.
• Delegate patient care to ancillary personnel; may precept student nurses and new hires.
• Maintain professional and ethical standards per ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
• Demonstrate caring attitudes to foster therapeutic relationships.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and risk management procedures.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Maintain confidentiality and punctuality; complete assigned duties timely.
• Complete required annual education, training, and licensure/certification updates.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
