Unit Information

• Unit: Neuro Med Surg
• Number of beds: 38
• Number of staff: 55
• Day shift staffing: 2 charge nurses (without patients), RN to patient ratio 4-5:1, 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
• Night shift staffing: 1-2 charge nurses (depending on staffing), RN to patient ratio 4-5:1, 2 PCT
• Patient ratios typically 5:1 or 6:1 (estimated, not guaranteed)
• Equipment used: IV pumps, seizure monitoring, BiPAP, CPAP (mostly at night), glucometer
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech

Schedule

• Shift: 7 AM to 7 PM
• Hours per week: 36

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience, with Med Surg experience within the last year
• Current BLS certification
• Baxter Sigma Spectrum Pump Training
• De-Escalation Skills in Healthcare Setting
• HHCCA ECG Curriculum

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification
• Experience with neurological patients
• Experience using Meditech EMR

Typical Procedures Performed

• NIH/stroke and neuro assessments
• Fall risk assessments
• Tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube management
