Description

Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information

Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Multi Trauma Unit (MTU)
Beds: 20
Staff: 40 total
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, 3 techs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 nurses, 2 techs
Patient Ratios: Approximately 1 nurse to 4 patients (charge nurse is patient-free)
Equipment Used: Ventilators, Feeding Pumps, IV Pumps, Wound Vacuums, Specialty Beds, Suction, Chest Tubes
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech / CPN
Trauma Level: Level 1 trauma center with highly complex patients

Typical Procedures and Skills

Managing chest tubes, trauma patients, tracheostomies, and suction
Bedside bronchoscopies
Chest tube placement

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with Meditech EMR system

Work Environment and Culture

Highly acute patient population, suitable for nurses who enjoy challenges
Strong teamwork with motivated nurses and supportive charge nurses
Excellent tech support on both day and night shifts
Collaborative and engaged physician team

Additional Notes

Candidates without the required acute care PCU experience and certifications will not be considered
This is a travel nursing role in a trauma unit setting with complex patient care needs
