Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Point Pleasant, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Details
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must complete medication and EKG competency exams within 72 hours of contract signing; passing score of 85% required on both exams
- Position requires working in an ICU setting
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
Required Licenses
- Valid RN license in West Virginia with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification required
Required Background Checks & Screenings
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal/extension
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal/extension
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, confirming ability to meet physical demands
- Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years
- Negative TB test (two-step PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 6 months of hire; if positive, follow-up chest X-ray and treatment documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days (does not require annual update)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required by October 31 through April 6; medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved documentation
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application/resume
- Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually
- Performance evaluation on file if worked over 1 year with the agency
- Internal evaluation on file if worked over 2 years with the agency
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia with primary source verification
- Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
