Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Contract Position

Job Overview

• Employment Type: Contractor
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Work: Every other major holiday
• On Call: No call required
• Orientation: 1 shift (facility and unit)
• Floating: May float to any Med/Surg unit as assigned by House Supervisor

Patient Care

• Patient Types: All Medical/Surgical patients
• Patient Ratios: Up to 6 patients per nurse (depending on staffing)
• Common Skills Required:

  • General Med/Surg nursing skills
  • Care of tracheostomies and chest tubes
  • Reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips
  • Managing IV infusions such as Lasix, Insulin, and Heparin drips
  • Wound vac management

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred but not required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical RN experience
• First-time travel nurses are accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Support & Team

• Support staff includes CNA/Tech, HUC, RNs, Rapid Response Team, Phlebotomy (peripheral lab draws), and Charge Nurse
• Telemetry monitoring is centralized with tele tech support

Technology & Equipment

• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC (required)
• IV Pumps: Alaris
• Medication Dispensing System: Pyxis

• Return to Origin (RTO) time off: Up to 7 days approved if traveler extends contract accordingly
