Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Job Type

• Contractor
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Schedule cycle: 6 weeks
• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Holiday work: every other major holiday
• No on-call required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN Medical/Surgical experience
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Required Licensure & Certifications

• RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred but not required

Patient Population & Care

• All Medical/Surgical patient types
• Average patient ratio up to 6 patients per nurse (varies by staffing)
• Telemetry monitoring with central monitoring and telemetry tech support

Skills & Clinical Requirements

• General Medical/Surgical nursing skills
• Experience with tracheostomies, chest tubes
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips
• Management of medication drips: Lasix, Insulin, Heparin
• Wound vac care

Support & Team

• CNA/Tech support
• Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)
• Other RNs
• Rapid Response Team available
• Phlebotomy for peripheral lab draws
• Charge Nurse support

Technology & Equipment

• EMR system: EPIC (required)
• IV pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing system: Pyxis

Orientation & Floating

• Orientation: 1 shift (facility and unit)
• Floating: Yes, to any Medical/Surgical unit as assigned by House Supervisor
